Dear GBC Family,
Below is what you need for an at-home time of worship. I had a harder time finding good links for some of they hymns. Sorry about that! While we are physically absent from one another on these Lord's Days, I pray God will meet with each of us around our time in His Word and bless and encourage us. I also pray we are longing for the time we can physically meet together again. Since giving is part of what we do when we gather on the Lord's Day, if you are able to continue financially giving during this time (and we understand if you are not able!), we ask that you mail checks only (no cash) to our new P.O. Box: Grace Baptist Church of Warsaw P.O. Box 1383 Warsaw, IN 46581-1383 May God bless us all as we seek to honor him on his day!
Order of Service
We have a video with some announcements, our call to worship, and opening prayer to start off today!
Hymn: TH 302 - Lord of the worlds above - Instrumental with lyrics; congregational singing (if you use the 2nd link, you'll probably need the lyrics from the first link) - may it be our warm desire to draw near and worship God in his house with his people on his day.
Hymn: TH 326 - Instrumental with lyrics; Instrumental only (the 2nd link is the right tune, but wrong lyrics - you should be able to use a combination of the two links) - This is the day the Lord has made - an acknowledgment of this day being a day for worship of the living God. OT Scripture Reading: Exodus 20:1-21 - The sermon passage today talks about the Sabbath, so our OT reading is the 10 commandments where God commanded observance of the Sabbath. Scripture Memory: Proverbs 15:8-9 “8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is acceptable to him. 9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but he loves him who pursues righteousness.” (ESV) Prayer: - Confess sin and rejoice in God's forgiveness; thank God for blessings; pray for our missionaries on the far side of the Pacific (Yaneys - Japan, Ellises - Philippines); pray that God would help you to receive the Word of God as it is preached; pray for other family needs and needs of others in the church; pray for the various needs related to the pandemic - the sick, those caring for the sick, the unemployed, the decision makers, efforts to slow it to be successful. NT Scripture Reading: Luke 6:1-11 - two other incidents involving Jesus and the Sabbath besides the one in the sermon passage in John's gospel Hymn: GBCH 10 - O Great God - congregational singing - A prayer of submission to God's commands by his grace and need for greater sanctification in every area of life Preaching: See video below Prayer and Benediction: Included in the video below 4/24/2020 - Certain truth in uncertain times4/21/2020 - Book Recommendations!

The Dear GBC Family,
Below is what you need for an at-home time of worship. There are scripture reading and sermon videos along with suggestions for hymns and prayers. I pray our time around common portions of God's Word be a blessing and encouragement to us these Lord's Days we are apart, and I hope we are filled with longing for the time we can meet together again face to face. Here are a few suggestions on how to use these resources:
Order of Service
Prayer: Ask God to bless your time of worship and to bless others as they meet in their homes.
Call to Worship/OT Scripture Reading: Psalm 42-43. These two Psalms go together and lament a time when the Psalmist can't get to the gatherings of God's people. We've talked about lament - a Biblical response of mourning our own sin, tragic circumstances, attacks of the enemy, or other difficulties. We are certainly in difficult days and lament is appropriate response. **This week we have pre-recorded Scripture readings. This one is just below.**
Hymn: Lord from Sorrows Deep I Call - This is taken from Psalm 42. We've been learning it as a congregation and continue that this morning.
Hymn: TH 80 - How firm a foundation - Instrumental with lyrics; congregational singing - part of lament is confessing our trust in God; he has been faithful in the past and we fully expect he will continue to to be faithful all the way home. This hymn is a sweet expression of that trust in our faithful God. The links are to a different (but familiar) tune than the one printed in the Trinity Hymnal. Both links have just 4 of the 6 verses that are in the TH. Here's a favorite of mine that is missing: When through the deep waters I call thee to go, The rivers of woe shall not thee overflow; For I will be with thee thy troubles to bless, And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress. Scripture Memory: Proverbs 15:8-9 “8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is acceptable to him. 9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but he loves him who pursues righteousness.” (ESV) Prayer: - Confess sin and rejoice in God's forgiveness; thank God for blessings; pray for our missionaries to the FE; pray that God would help you to receive the Word of God as it is preached; pray for other family needs and needs of others in the church; pray for the various needs related to the pandemic - the sick, those caring for the sick, the unemployed, the decision makers, efforts to slow it to be successful NT Scripture Reading: Ephesians 2:1-10 - Faith in Christ is the only way to true healing of our spiritual sickness, the forgiveness of our sins. **This week we have pre-recorded Scripture readings. This one is just below.**
Hymn: TH 582 - My hope is built on nothing less - Instrumental with lyrics; Congregational Version - we want to see Jesus the healer and Savior today from John's gospel and we sing of our faith in him here. (The links are to a different tune than the one printed in the Trinity Hymnal.)
Preaching: See video below Prayer and Benediction: Included in the video below.
Closing Hymn: TH 432 Jesus what a friend for sinners - Instrumental with lyrics, congregational singing - we sing of our merciful Savior and healer
You may want to take a little time to talk about what you've heard. And don't forget to join our Zoom prayer meeting tonight at 5pm. Watch your email for the link.
The Dear GBC Family,
In this post you'll find what you need for an at-home time of worship. There are suggestions for hymns, prayers, and below you can find scripture reading and sermon videos. The longer we do this (this is Sunday #4) the more I trust you realize this can't replace our corporate gathering for worship, but I hope the time around common portions of God's Word will be a blessing and encouragement to us now, and we can look forward to when we can meet together again face to face. Since giving is part of what we do when we gather on the Lord's Day, if you are able to continue financially giving during this time (and we understand if you are not able!), we ask that you mail checks only (no cash) to our new P.O. Prayer: Ask God to bless your time of worship and to bless others as they meet in their homes.
Call to Worship: 1 Corinthians 15:50-57 - The resurrection of Christ conquered death and that means all who have faith in Christ have victory through him. His resurrection guarantees ours! May God give us hearts and voices to worship him on this Resurrection Sunday, the first day of the week! Hymn: Christ the Lord is risen today (TH 205) - Congregational Version (This is the tune from 198 in the TH and a variation of the words from #205) Hymn: -Low in the grave he lay (TH 206) Instrumental with lyrics Scripture Memory: Proverbs 15:8-9 “8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is acceptable to him. 9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but he loves him who pursues righteousness.’” (ESV) OT Scripture Reading: Psalm 16:1-11 - Words from this Psalm are quoted in the NT with reference to the resurrection of Jesus more than once. Can you find them? (Rodger tells you where one of them is in the video below!) **This week we have pre-recorded Scripture readings. You can scroll down and find them in the first video below.** Prayer: - Confess sin and rejoice in God's forgiveness; thank God for blessings; pray for our missionaries to the Muslim World; pray that God would help you to receive the Word of God as it is preached; pray for other family needs and needs of others in the church; pray for the various needs related to the pandemic - the sick, those caring for the sick, the unemployed, the decision makers, efforts to slow it to be successful NT Scripture Reading: Matthew 28:1-10 - this is one of the accounts of the resurrection of Jesus. **This week we have pre-recorded Scripture readings. You can scroll down and find them in the first video below.** Hymn: It is well with my soul (TH 58) - Instrumental with lyrics; Congregational Version - The death and resurrection of Christ accomplish our salvation and eternal life and give us peace! Closing Hymn: Jesus lives and so shall I (TH 596) - Instrumental with lyrics You may want to take a little time to talk about what you've heard. Box: Grace Baptist Church of Warsaw P.O. Box 1383 Warsaw, IN 46581-1383 May God bless us all as we seek to honor him on his day! Here are a few suggestions on how to use these resources:
Prayer: Ask God to bless your time of worship and to bless others as they meet in their homes. Call to Worship: Daniel 2:20-23 "20 Daniel answered and said: "Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. 21 He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; 22 he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him. 23 To you, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise, for you have given me wisdom and might, and have now made known to me what we asked of you, for you have made known to us the king's matter." Hymn: Immortal, invisible, God only wise (TH 35) - Piano track and lyrics; Congregational Version - we praise the wise God! Hymn: Day by Day - Instrumental with lyrics; Congregational Version - we sing of God's wisdom, doing what he deems best because he knows what is best. We then can rest in that wisdom. Scripture Memory: **NEW FOR APRIL** Proverbs 15:8-9 “8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is acceptable to him. 9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but he loves him who pursues righteousness.’” (ESV) OT Scripture Reading: Isaiah 40:1-31 - see what you notice about the Word and wisdom of God compared with men and their wisdom Prayer: - Confess sin and rejoice in God's forgiveness; thank God for blessings; pray for our national pastors in Africa (Ogallos - Kenya, Kombes - Zambia); pray that God would help you to receive the Word of God as it is preached; pray for other family needs and needs of others in the church; pray for the various needs related to the pandemic - the sick, those caring for the sick, the unemployed, the decision makers, efforts to slow it to be successful NT Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:18-31 Hymn: May the Mind of Christ my Savior - Instrumental with lyrics; Congregational Version - we want to think God's thoughts after him; to love as he loves, to live by his Word, in his peace, reflecting his light and glory to all we meet Preaching: See video below Prayer and Benediction: Included in the video below. Response: Since Paul worships when he considers the wisdom of God, we would do well to respond this way also. The Doxology would be a great response of worship to our God! You may want to take a little time to talk about what you've heard. And don't forget to join our Zoom prayer meeting tonight at 5pm. Watch for an invitation link in your email a few minutes before 5pm! Sermon |
