Friday Fragments

Hope you have a great weekend and Lord's Day worshiping with God's people!
  • If I only worked out when I felt like it, I would almost never do it. But I know I need to do it, so I do. Study of God's Word may be similar. I hope you feel like it more often than "almost never", but even when you don't feel like it, do it anyway. We need it. Badly. My uncle, whose 3 1/2 year old granddaughter died suddenly last week told me that the next day he almost skipped reading his Bible. But he didn't. He stopped and read and in the scheduled reading for that day was something he needed to hear: Revelation 21:4.
  • Read Obadiah lately? If so, sounds like you're in the minority. If you haven't, here are some reasons to. Maybe I should preach it?
  • Kindle Deals - If you have internet access you need to think about how you and your family access it. This book doesn't have all the answers, but it does have some helpful thoughts. You can also find the Holman Christian Standard (HCS) Study Bible for $4.99. Pretty good price for a study Bible.
  • Not Kindle Deal - New Growth Press publishes mini-books on relevant topics - short, gospel-oriented treatment for those facing various kinds of struggles. Through May 28 Westminster Bookstore is offering 5 packs (5 of 1 title) of them for $8, which is a steal of a deal. Have a look; find some topics you or your friends struggle with; read it yourself; pass them out to others. (These are the booklets we hand out at First Friday.) I would especially commend the CCEF titles.

At the cross, God simultaneously showed us the greatness of our sin against him and the greatness of his love for us.
